Instrumental Poetry
Maplebz: Stephen, do you play any musical instruments?
Stephen Gately: I don't but I would love to learn to play the piano.

Well, he does play the piano...let's listen! |

I personally believe he could have done it better, oh not the piano, but the song, with a little bit more of practice ;) Here's the original.
Colors of the Wind

You think you own whatever land
You land on Earth is just a dead thing You can claim But I know every rock and tree And creature Has a life, has a spirit, has a name You think the only people Who are people Are the people who look And think like you But if you walk the footsteps Of a stranger You'll learn things you never knew You never knew Have you ever heard the wolf cry To the blue corn moon Or asked the grinning bobcat Why he grinned Can you sing with all the voices Of the mountains Can you paint with all the colors Of the wind Can you paint with all the colors Of the wind Come run the hidden pine trails Of the forest Come taste the sun-sweet berries Of the earth Come roll in all the riches All around you And for once never wonder What they're worth The rainstorm and the river Are my brothers The heron and the otter Are my friends And we are all connected To each other In a circle, in a hoop That never ends Have you ever heard the wolf cry To the blue corn moon Or let the eagle tell you Where he's been Can you sing with all the voices Of the mountains Can you paint with all the colors Of the wind Can you paint with all the colors Of the wind How high does the sycamore grow If you cut it down, Then you'll never know And you'll never hear the wolf cry To the blue corn moon For whether we are white Or copper-skinned We need to sing With all the voices Of the mountains We need to paint With all the colors of the wind You can own the earth and still All you'll own is earth until You can paint With all the colors of the wind |
Still, the song is a good choice for him to sing, just like Shooting Star !
We have indigenous people in our country, too, named Ainu, who treasure their traditional lives in harmony with Mother Nature.
This is a good 5-min. sample video that shows it, (wanted to share this on this page, but not allowed. Please jump to the original video page). The landscape there is indeed spectacular, where its richness can be felt like limitless, but the Ainu more of less share the similar tragic plight experienced by Native Americans.
I may write about them in the future post since Hokkaido, the northern island of Japan, where the majority of them (used to) live, is my favorite region and I respect their culture.

When Melody Speaks More Than Words
I've posted some internet radio links on the front page. AccuRadio must be one of the best out there, and I like their Romantic Piano station.
If you sign up (for free), they'll let you rate their songs and you can keep your rating record, which is really a neat feature. Many album cover images are inspirational, too. Some of their songs can be found on YT. Here, I'll post a couple of songs I enjoy. I may come back to post more since my favorites are more than these.
Music-wise, we're seeing heaven on the internet. I'm really grateful.
The music is speechless, but it speaks volumes about what one's mind & heart sing IMO, so I call them instrumental poetry here. It sparks your imagination and invite you for a memorable journey.
Even if you are not a composer, you can still send a song that expresses how you feel & think to someone who you wish to convey a message to. I remember
my friend has given me a cassette tape (yes, not CD at that time, son) of the songs she has chosen and put together for me for a happy birthday gift.
That was one of the loveliest gifts I have ever received, though I don't actually remember any of the songs, haha!! But hey, that sweet memory never fades.
I'm sure you can still gift a song for someone, rather than just sharing them via SNS casually.
